Unwell Strange still leads Wales Open after the third round
31/05/2008
Australian Scott Strange carded a third round two-under-par 69 and will take a three shot lead into the final round of the Wales Open.
Strange hit two bogeys and four birdies in his round and finished on 15-under-par at the Celtic Manor Golf Resort course.
The 31-year-old will be very pleased with his efforts today after he suffered from dizziness for part of the day.
"Maybe I just need to lie down," said Strange, who will be aiming to lift his first European Tour title tomorrow.
"For some reason I felt funny down the 14th and when I got on the 15th tee I felt I was going to fall over and throw up.
"I had a banana and a chocolate bar but I had plenty of food and drink before that and can't explain it so I'll have a chat with the physios and I'll then just wait and see how I am."
Spaniard Alvaro Velasco carded a consecutive round of three-under-par 68 to climb up to second place on 12-under-par.
2006 Wales Open champion Robert Karlsson, Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin and India's Jeev Milkha Singh are all in contention on 11-under-par.
One shot further back are a group of seven players, including Nick Dougherty, are on 10-under-par. Dougherty fired a solid round of four-under-par 67 to put himself with a good chance of winning the tournament.
