Woods: I know what it takes

17/06/2007

Tiger Woods has warned the rest of the US Open's hopefuls that he has the experience they lack to go on and win the tournament at Oakmont.

Woods is just two shots behind leader Aaron Baddeley who is on two-over-par after three rounds.

The world number one is looking to secure his 13th major victory, though he has never won a major without leading heading into the final day's play.

He said: "They're going to deal with emotions that they've probably never dealt with before. It helps to have experience. I've been there before and I know what it takes."

Baddeley has won twice on the PGA tour during his short career, winning the Verizon Heritage last year and the FBR tournament this season.

The 26-year-old Australian is confident he can hold off the challenge of Woods if he can keep his mind on his own game.

He said: "Tiger is the best player in the world but I feel like I'm playing well and my swing is good."

England's Justin Rose and Paul Casey are a further shot behind Woods on five-over and both feel they are in with a chance of claiming a victory for Europe on American soil.

"It's been a long time since a European has won any major let alone a US Open," said Casey.

Rose said he felt he had nothing to lose and would adopt an aggressive approach on the final day.

"I'm in the fortunate position to go out there and just chase at it," he said.

Tony Jacklin was the last European player to win the US Open in 1970.
