Woods among five-way tie for Arnold Palmer Invitational lead

16/03/2008

Tiger Woods carded a third round of four-under-par to claim a share of the lead heading into the final day of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Woods is tied with overnight leader Vijay Singh, Bart Bryant, Bubba Watson and Sean O'Hair on six-under-par for the tournament.

Although Woods' round attracted most of the attention, hauling himself up from joint 20th at the start of the day, O'Hair moved up 29 more places than Woods thanks to a round of 63.

Singh suffered a disappointing day. Having recovered from food poisoning to take the lead at the halfway stage of the tournament he made three bogeys and a double-bogey on the front nine.

He recovered slightly with two birdies on the back nine but his lead had disappeared by then.

Woods has won every tournament he has taken part in since September last year but that streak looked to be coming to an end before he shot a 66 on day three.

The world number one made three birdies in the first four holes and another three on the back nine. Bogeys at the eighth and 14th holes were his only mistakes during the round.

Woods said: "I was on the periphery there, but now I'm right back in the mix."

O'Hair caught the eye in an error-free round that included five birdies and an eagle at the par-five 12th which put him in contention for the title heading into the final round.

Englishman Lee Westwood is still in touch – two strokes back on four-under. He is among 11 players within three shots of the five-man leading group.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18511300-ADNFCR
