Woods considers action over wife fake porn pics
20/09/2006
Tiger Woods angrily reprimanded parts of the media after forged topless pictures of his Swedish wife Elin were printed in a local magazine.
The world number one and talisman for the US Ryder Cup team at the K Club this week felt "appalled and angry" after seeing the pictures which have been republished today by a national tabloid paper.
Former swimwear model Elin Woods, 26, was said to be "upset" and "embarrassed" by the fake pictures and Woods insists the media acted immorally in printing them.
"Yes, she has been a model prior and she did some bikini photos. But to link her to porn websites and such is unacceptable and I do not accept that at all. Neither does our team," Woods said.
"I know the media can be a little bit difficult at times, but it's hard to be very diplomatic about this when you have so much emotion involved, when my wife is involved like this."
He added: "Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. Sometimes that happens and I think this was a clear incidence of that."
Woods insisted his wife has never posed naked and the couple are now considering taking legal action against the outlets which ran the pictures.
Despite the distraction, the world's leading golfer took time today to praise the Irish people and golf fans who have created an excellent atmosphere ahead of Friday's first day of Ryder Cup action.
"I've come here numerous years to fish and hang out and play golf and tour all of Ireland and people here have been absolutely fantastic," he said.
"The same for this week. All of the Europeans that have come and supported the European side have been so gracious to us."
