Woods hits top form
02/09/2006
Tiger Woods has opened his account at the Deutsche Bank Championship in style by shooting a superb first-round 66.
The in-form world number one is coming into Boston on the back of four straight victories and he showed all the confidence and belief that suggests he could win again this week.
"It was nice to get off to a quick start," Woods said after his opening round.
"I birdied the first hole. With the weather as windy and swirly as it was today, it was nice to be under par early and obviously under par after nine.
"And then the wind started dying down a little bit on the back nine, so you could be a little more aggressive on the back nine and go after some flags."
US-based Briton Justin Rose is currently sharing second place behind Woods after he carded a decent four-under-par 67.
He is joined in second by American pair Bob May and Joe Ogilvie and Australian duo Nathan Green and Aaron Baddeley.
England's Brian Davis also had a decent start, opening his account with a two-under-par 69.
