Car bomb hits police bus in Pakistan

A car bomb has destroyed a police bus in north-west Pakistan, killing at least 11 people.
Nine policemen and two civilian are thought to have died when the device, parked on a bridge, detonated as the bus approached near the town of Bannu at around 09:00 local time (04:00 BST) this morning.
The Reuters news agency quotes deputy district police chief Masood Afridi as saying: "The vehicle was going to pick up prisoners and as it reached a bridge an explosive-laden car exploded and nine of our policemen and two passers-by were killed."
Doctors at Bannu's local hospital claim 12 wounded people have been brought in for treatment.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
