City girls needed for cancer calendar
21/03/2006
Manchester's most beautiful women are being urged to come forward to appear in a new calendar to raise money for cancer research.
Manchester-born model Miki Morgan is launching a campaign to find 12 of the city's most stunning young women to star in her Girls of Manchester calendar, which hopes to raise both cash and awareness for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
The competition is open to any girls "who love a night out in Manchester", with potential models urged to submit their photo to The Baby Grand nightclub's website for rating.
The public will then rate the girl out of ten, with the top 24 invited to model at a professional fashion show at top Manchester nightclub The Baby Grand in front of style experts including sixties supermodel Sylvia Holland-Sharples and Claire Gilchrist-Dick , owner of Liquid Models.
From these, 12 will be selected for the calendar one for every month of the year.
Ms Morgan told the Manchester Metro: "I think northern girls are very attractive and many of the models in London come from up north.
"Walk down any street in the city and you'll spot some gorgeous girls.
"I thought how cool it would be to produce a calendar of real women that you might meet on a night out in Manchester."
The calendar will be on sale from May, running from mid 2006 to mid 2007.
