Manc club hosts DJ competition
14/10/2005
Stylus, the Manchester club well-known for nurturing promising young talent on the decks has launched a new campaign to find the city's next superstar DJ.
The 'From The Streets' project aims to unearth hot new talent from the north-west, searching out anyone who feels they can cut it on the decks and make others cut shapes on the dance floor.
Disco DJ's and bedroom decks-masters throughout Manchester and the north-east are invited to send in a 60-80 minute mix of tracks they think will get the Stylus crowd moving, and impress the Stylus experts.
The public will then be able to cast their votes on their favourite master-mixes via the club's website, with the 20 highest-voted DJs passing through to the next stage of the competition.
Four nights in January will then find the aspiring disc-jockeys' skills tested in live events at the club, until the 20 are whittled down to four.
The final quartet will then be given an hour each in the back room at Stylus, before the winner is decided by the team of experts.
The winner will receive a set at Stylus and a set at an external gig, a professionally recorded mix of their work and various types of exposure to the music industry.
