Manchester's Pub of the Year named
25/10/2005
The Kings Arms in Salford has been voted Pub of the Year by judges at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival.
Praised for its blend of drinks selection, friendliness, ambience, food, entertainment and the historic architecture of the building, the Bloom Street pub's owners celebrated after having spent over £40,000 on the property.
The pub has its own theatre, regularly hosting plays and local bands, attracting an arty and creative crowd to the area.
By also supplying its clientele with a mix of traditional ales, the Kings Arms manages to maintain the regular pub-goers attention, creating a rich and various mixture of people.
Having been refurbished twice in the last two years, the pub's owners David Redrove and Mike Hayes claim their aim is to provide the most original bar in the area.
The Kings Arms beat off competition from the Lamb Hotel in Eccles and four other local pubs in Manchester for the award, with judges announcing the Salford pub's range of appeal tipped the balance in its favour.
