BBC relocation to Salford 'boosting local housing market'
09/05/2008
The relocation of several BBC departments to west Manchester has boosted the property market in Salford, it has been claimed.
According to Miller Homes, there has been a "strong" level of interest in new homes at its new Brookes Park development in Monton.
This "highly desirable" village location, which has cafes, bars and a nearby Metrolink tram stop, is benefiting from renewed interest in Salford and the mediacity:uk site at the quays, says Miller.
Sales manager Nicky Bell said: "With all the talk of Salford becoming the hot new location ... Monton is superbly positioned and equipped to capture the hearts of the new arrivals."
She added: "The increased interest is bringing new buyers in to the area. People are even moving out of [Manchester] city centre because of the good communication links and village lifestyle of the area."
According to official figures, more homes were built in Salford last year than in any other time in the past 20 years.
Over 2,200 houses and apartments constructed last year, with flats near Manchester city centre proving particularly popular.
