Eco-friendly offices unveiled at Salford Quays
20/05/2008
A new £23 million six-storey eco-friendly office block has been unveiled on Trafford Road at Salford Quays.
Known as Metro, it is the first commercial Manchester property outside the city centre to receive the 'Excellent' BREEAM rating.
Built by HBG Properties, Metro features 72,500 sq ft of office space, as well as energy and water-saving facilities, intelligent lighting that responds to motion and brightness, and showers for cyclists.
Clive Perrin, HBG Properties development director, said: "Environmental issues are becoming more important these days and forward thinking companies want to occupy 'very good' or 'excellent' BREEAM-rated buildings in line with their corporate social responsibility policies."
Metro, which boasts 227 parking spaces at ground and first floor level, is in close proximity to the Exchange Quay Metrolink station, which is good news for those who want to their leave their car at home.
BEEAM is the most widely-used measure of reviewing and improving the environmental performance of office buildings.
