Studio flats set to become popular, says expert
06/06/2008
Studio apartments are likely to increase in popularity now that property price growth is slowing down, it has been claimed.
Andy Finch, the head of new homes sales in Manchester for Knight Frank, told the Times that buyers can save between £20,000 and £25,000 on a studio apartment, compared with a small one-bedroom unit.
This means that deposits are smaller, while stamp duty liability is also likely to be reduced.
"When the market weakens and prices slip a little, it brings studios within reach of a wider audience," he told the newspaper.
Studio apartments on sale in Manchester can be found at the manyoo development at Salford Quays.
Launched last year, Manyoo comprises four towers and 1036 apartments. The interiors were designed by Jade Jagger, daughter of the Rolling Stones singer.
