Bands withdrawn after delay at Bestival
05/09/2008
Bestival festivalgoers already stung by bad weather in the Isle of Wight have been hit by delays to the main programme due to resurfacing.
Attendees had to wait for tarpaulins and sawdust to be re-laid following heavy rain and strong winds.
The delay meant that three bands, including Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, had to be withdrawn.
inthenews.co.uk's Lewis Bazley said that crowds had to wait up to 90 minutes before they could enter the main arena.
"Everyone fled into the arena in an orderly fashion," he added.
Following an introduction from comic Steve Frost, the festival got underway with Wedding Present taking to the stage.
