Kanye West to close MTV Awards
05/09/2008
Kayne West will close this year's MTV Video Music awards, the channel has confirmed.
In a press conference the show's host Russell Brand confirmed the rap star would close the award ceremony despite claiming last year he would never return.
Brand also announced that Christina Aguilera would perform a special rendition of her single Genie in a Bottle to mark the show's 25th anniversary.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Britney Spears would open the show.
The Toxic star will be hoping to put in a better performance that last year when she stumbled her way through dance routines and mimed poorly as fears grew over her mental state.
Since then, and after a number of well publicised trips to hospital, Spears appears to be getting her career back on track now that she has finalised a custodial dispute with her ex-husband Kevin Federline and her father has taken control of her estate.
R&B singer Rihanna and rock singer Kid Rock are also both confirmed to perform at the show on Sunday.
