Bike snatched while Cameron shops
24/07/2008
David Cameron reported his bike stolen after it disappeared while he shopped at a Tesco near his home on Wednesday.
The conservative leader chained his bike to a railing before entering the supermarket to buy salad, only to emerge and find it had been stolen.
Onlookers overheard his disbelief as he repeatedly said: "But I locked it."
He has reported the theft to police and asked if anyone has seen the bicycle. "I would like it back," he said.
Mr Cameron is known to regularly commute by bike from home to the House of Commons, which provoked derision when it emerged he used a chauffeured car to follow him to work with his briefcase.
