Celeb dates under the hammer
16/07/2007
Emotional support charity Samaritans is giving web users the chance to date a range of UK television personalities in a new online auction.
Shipwrecked contestants Lianne Dauban, Louis Rennocks, Naomi Millbank-Smith and Sophie Wardman, as well as the Channel 4 reality TV show's overall winner Ben Lunt, have all volunteered as celebrity dates to raise money for the charity.
A date with either Miss Great Britain finalist Rachael Baughan or Big Issue founder John Bird are also in the offing for the highest bidder.
Samaritans is organising the auction to promote the 24-hour a day, seven days a week emotional support it offers in confidence.
"Samaritans will always be an ear for you and whereas friends might change around you after you have told them something big, Samaritans volunteers don't judge," said Shipwrecked 2007 contestant Dauban.
And in a message to any potential bidders on the auction, which will run on auction website eBay until July 24th, she added: "I love boys in skinny jeans, the edgy Razorlight look. Smooth operators need not apply."
A host of other items donated to Samaritans, which receives five million contacts every year, are also going under the hammer, including a signed Chelsea shirt by goalkeeper Petr Cech, T-shirts worn by pop trio Sugababes and an autographed photo from Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix.
