Naomi Campbell banned from flying with British Airways

Model Naomi Campbell has been banned from flying with British Airways (BA).

Campbell, 37, was arrested last week on suspicion of assaulting a police officer while on board a BA plane.

A row broke out between the model and airline staff after she was informed that some of her baggage had been lost.

Campbell had been onboard a BA flight destined for Los Angeles from Heathrow's new Terminal 5, where thousand of people have experienced considerable disruption with hundreds of flights being cancelled and tens of thousand of bags stranded at the airport.

As a result of the row, police were called and Campbell was arrested, handcuffed and led off the plane, before being later released on bail.

A spokeswoman for the model said that she hoped the dispute would be "resolved amicably".

"Naomi has been flying with BA for nearly 30 years and has been a good customer. She hopes this can be resolved amicably," she said.

A BA spokesman for the airline claimed: "All incidents of abusive or disruptive behaviour towards fellow passengers or staff are taken extremely seriously and will not be tolerated.

"We deal with cases on an individual basis and take appropriate action where necessary."

Last year Campbell was sentenced to community service in New York after being convicted of assault.

As punishment for throwing a mobile phone at her maid the model was made to clean toilets and sweep floors for five days.
