Naomi Campbell leaves Brazilian hospital after operation
01/03/2008
Model Naomi Campbell has left a hospital in Brazil after undergoing surgery to have an ovarian cyst removed.
The 37-year-old supermodel left the Sirio-Libanes hospital in Sao Paulo by helicopter yesterday.
A statement was released by the hospital claiming Campbell had "recovered well" from the surgery on Monday and was deemed healthy enough to be discharged.
"Doctors signed her release and she left in the afternoon in a helicopter that someone sent to pick her up," said hospital spokeswoman Mirtes Bogea.
Earlier, gynaecologists Jose Aristodemo Pinotti and infectious diseases specialist David Uip told reporters that the operation had been a success after Campbell had been admitted to the hospital in an "emergency".
Campbell's departure in a helicopter, to an unknown destination, is thought to have been a manoeuvre aimed at avoiding the cameras of the world's press camped outside the hospital.
The model is a frequent visitor to Brazil and celebrated the country's carnival last month in the north-eastern city of Salvador.
