Deadline for unclaimed lottery millions
02/01/2006
Today is the last day for the winner of the largest ever unclaimed fortune in the National Lottery to claim the prize.
The winning numbers, which came up on July 6th, are: three, 12, 17, 36, 44 and 49. The ticket for the £9,476,995 prize was bought in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
If someone does not come forward to claim the prize by 17:30 GMT today, when the 180-day limit expires, the money will be donated to the Lotto's Good Causes fund.
Camelot spokeswoman Catherine Williamson said: "It is the last minute but we are hopeful that maybe someone's looking down the back of the sofa, checking, digging deep down the bottom of drawers and hopefully somebody might come forward before 17:30 GMT today."
In December, Camelot used pantomime actors in Aladdin at Doncasters Civic Theatre to publicise the hunt for the winner.
Window Twanky wore a specially designed dress with the winning numbers on and asked the audience to check their tickets.
Prior to today, the largest unclaimed jackpot was £7 million, for a ticket bought in Belfast in August 2004, which was never cashed in.
