Brough returns to Wildcats
29/11/2007
Castleford Tigers half-back Danny Brough has signed a three-year deal to return to Super League side Wakefield Wildcats.
The 24-year-old began his career at Belle Vue and chose to sign a contract with the Wildcats despite helping Castleford through the National League playoffs to take their place in Super League from next season.
Brough was a product of Wakefield's youth academy, before stints at Dewsbury Rams and York City Knights led to a move to Hull FC, where he played in their Challenge Cup-winning team in 2005.
He joined Castleford in 2006 but had always harboured hopes of a return to one of the top Super League outfits.
"I really wanted to play Super League and I was over the moon that I'd signed a contract before the grand final so I knew I was definitely going to be in Super League this year," he said.
"I enjoyed my time at Wakefield before, there were good and bad points but the squad are really looking for a big season and I'm relishing the chance to be back here where I started out and where I'll maybe finish."
Wakefield finished last season in eighth place, missing out on the playoffs by just four points, and the club are hoping to earn a place in the top six in 2008.
