Brough signs for Tigers
16/06/2006
Hull half back Danny Brough has signed for Castleford Tigers for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old signed an 18-month contract with Castleford after struggling to make the first team this season.
"This is a big opportunity for me," an excited Brough admitted. "I havent been getting regular football recently and that is what Im looking for at the Tigers. This is the chance that I wanted and Im pleased to be joining a club that is going forward."
Hull chairperson Kath Hetherington admitted that Brough's opportunities were "limited" at her club but wished him "the very best of luck at Castleford".
She said Hull greatly appreciated his role in the 2005 season in which he played 43 games and scored 204 points, including an impressive winning kick in the Powergen Challenge Cup win.
Tigers coach Terry Matterson welcomed having Brough "on board", saying that "I think that he will prove a big asset to us and bring a good range of skills to the squad".
"He is a hard worker and a strong tackler with a very good kicking game, as well as being a top-notch goal kicker."
Castleford revealed they had been interested in Brough for some time but had only gained permission to approach the player last week. News of his signing comes on the back of a renewed contract for Tigers skipper Danny Nutley, who has agreed to remain at the club for a further two years.
Meanwhile 26-year-old prop forward Garreth Carvell has also committed to another two years at Hull.
"I want to be involved not only this season but in the seasons to come," he said.
The 26-year-old, currently enjoying a run of good form, will continue to add to his massive tally of 122 appearances for the club.
