Bulls land Parramatta star

30/05/2006

Bradford Bulls have pulled off a major coup by landing experienced Australian back-row forward Glenn Morrison from NRL outfit Parramatta.

Morrison, 30, still had one year remaining on his contract but the club have confirmed he will be released from that at the end of this NRL season.

The former North Queensland, North Sydney and Balmain forward has spent the past 11 seasons in Australia and admitted he is sad to be leaving the Eels but that the draw of playing in the engage Super League was too strong.

"I would like to thank everyone at Parramatta for allowing me this opportunity," he added.

"Everyone has been fantastic, especially the supporters. The only regret I have is that I did not come here earlier in my career."

Meanwhile, Parramatta chief executive Denis Fitzgerald insisted the model professional leaves with the club's total support.

"When we initially signed Glenn it was part of his contractual arrangement that we would allow him a release to play in England if the opportunity arose in his third year," he explained.

"Glenn has made a tremendous impact on everyone here at Parramatta, and has given great service every time he has taken the field. He has a young family, and this gives him the opportunity to finish his career before they start school."

Morrison will now add to the impressive list of former NRL players at Odsal, including Joe Vagana, Marcus Bai and Lesley Vainikolo.
