Bulls suffer double injury blow
21/01/2008
Bradford Bulls have suffered a double injury blow ahead of the new Super League season after two star players were ruled out for several weeks.
Second row David Solomona and winger Semi Tadulala both picked up injuries in the Paul Deacon testimonial match against Wigan Warriors at Odsal yesterday, which the visitors won 28-16.
Solomona faces at least six weeks on the sidelines after the club's medical staff gave an initial diagnosis of a medial ligament tear.
However the forward will undergo a further scan today to determine the extent of the problem after fears he could have sustained damage to his cruciate ligament, which would mean up to six months out.
"He's definitely done his medial and it could be worse," said Bradford coach Steve McNamara.
"We'll find out today whether he's done his cruciate as well. It's not great, we have a few other minor injuries as well."
Tadulala, who signed for Bradford from yesterday's opponents in the close season, went off in the second half with a fractured cheekbone and will be missing for six weeks.
As a result he is expected to be out for at least the first three matches of the 2008 season against Wakefield Wildcats, Huddersfield Giants and St Helens.
