Bulls tie down James
05/06/2006
Bradford Bulls have today confirmed that promising England youth forward Matt James has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.
The engage Super League and Carnegie world club champions have been impressed by the 19-year-old's development and Bulls coach Steve McNamara was keen to tie him to Odsal.
"He is another outstanding talent, a young player who is not only going to be around in the future but now as well," McNamara said.
"Matt's already had an opportunity at first team level and is progressing nicely. He was a little bit slow at the start of the year because of an injury pre-season but now he's ticking all the right boxes.
"It is important that we keep all our promising young players and Matt's decision that his future lies with the Bulls is a big fillip for the club."
James, who joined the Bulls from Eastmoor on the recommendation of Leeds assistant Brian McDermott, said he was delighted to have his contract extended.
"My future is here at Bradford and it's the only place I wanted to sign," he said.
"They club has kept its promise that they would reward me if I progressed and they've come in early to get me and I'm really pleased. Now I need to keep working hard and repay the faith they have shown in me."
