Cardiff twice come from behind to beat Llanelli

11/04/2008

Tom James helped the Cardiff Blues come from behind to seal a hard-fought win over Welsh rivals Llanelli Scarlets at Arms Park.

The Scarlets raced to a 14-0 lead thanks to tries from Dwayne Peel and Jon Davies in the opening minutes.

However, the Blues rallied and soon hit back, with Nicky Robinson and then James going over, before the latter set up Marc Stcherbina to give his side a half-time advantage.

Tries from Marc Jones and then Morgan Stoddart re-established the Scarletts lead, though a penalty and try from Ben James and a drop-goal from Robinson gave the Blues the points and moved them four points clear of the Scarlets in the table.

At the other end of the Magners League, Ulster put in a dramatic second-half performance to secure an 18-6 win at home to Connacht.

The two sides went in level at half time thanks to penalties from Andy Dunne and Niall O'Connor.

However, Ulster came out stronger after the break and a try from Tom Court, followed by a conversion and penalty from Paddy Wallace gave them a comfortable lead.

Though the visitor's hopes were briefly raised by a Tony Nathan penalty, Matt McCullogh made sure of the points with a late try.

In Scotland, Glasgow eased to a 23-14 win over rivals Edinburgh, thanks largely to an inspired performance from Dan Parks, who scored all their points. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18549215-ADNFCR
