Castleford beat rivals Wakefield 48-22
10/08/2008
Super League's bottom side Castleford scored an unlikely victory over local rivals Wakefield.
When the Wildcats went into a 12-0 lead with tries from Sean Gleeson and Sam Obst it looked like it was going to be another miserable afternoon for Castleford.
Wakefield had gone six games without a win, and their local rivals appeared to be feeling the backlash from their poor form.
But the Tigers showed great character and fought back with tries from two tried from Stuart Donlan, who was set-up by Brent Sherwin and Ned Catic.
Joe Westerman touched down Ryan McGoldrick's kick, and Luke Dorn crossed when he latched on to a Ned Catic pass.
Andrew Henderson and Craig Huby and Scott Moore all also crossed for tries while Kirk Dixon was in inspired form, converting all eight tries.
Castleford's win was payback for the defeat to Wakefield two years ago, which saw them relegated from the Super League.
