Castleford sign Edmondson
30/10/2007
Newly-promoted Super League side Castleford Tigers have signed former St Helens back-row forward Mark Edmondson on an initial 12-month deal.
The 27-year-old, who played for relegated side Salford City Reds in Super League last season, was a member of Saints' Challenge Cup-winning team in 2004 and spent eight seasons at Knowsley Road.
He joined Adrian Morley at Sydney Roosters for a single season in the Australian NRL in 2006 before returning at the beginning of this year.
And although bad luck with injuries have curtailed his contributions in recent seasons, Edmondson said he was looking forward to the challenge of building Castleford up to the same force they once were.
"I'm delighted to be joining Cas," said Edmondson.
"I have always known it to be a good club with some great fans and it's great to have this opportunity to get back to the top.
"The injury problems seem to be out of the way and I'm looking forward to a good pre-season.
"It's almost like a fresh start for me and another chance so I'm determined to go for it."
Edmondson is the third player to join the Tigers from Salford, following the acquisitions of Michael Korkidas and Luke Dorn who chose to jump ship once the Reds' relegation was confirmed.
