Catalans' Chan gets three-match ban
12/04/2006
Catalans Dragons forward Alex Chan has been hit with a three-match ban and fined £350 fine for dangerous play.
The New Zealand international had been placed on report by referee Richard Silverwood for an incident involving Danny Nutley during Saturday's Super League clash with Castleford in Carcassonne.
And at a meeting of the Rugby Football League (RFL) disciplinary committee, Chan, 31, was found guilty of an illegal throw in the game, which ended 51-14 to the Dragons.
Chan had flown from Perpignan to Leeds to make a personal appearance at the hearing but was unhappy with the outcome and has said he will most likely appeal against the decision.
He will however miss the Dragons' next games against Harlequins and St Helens over Easter and against Hull on April 22nd.
This incident is the second time Chan has been hauled before an RFL disciplinary committee after being cited for punching an opponent last month.
Chan received his marching orders during the game against Leeds for the incident the first time a Dragons player has been sent off but he managed to avoid a suspension on that occasion.
