Clarke to remain in Wolves pack
13/12/2007
Great Britain hooker Jon Clarke has agreed a new four-year deal with Warrington Wolves to keep him at the club until at least 2011.
The 28-year-old's existing contract with the Super League side was due to expire at the end of the 2008 season.
But he has been rewarded for his excellent form this year, which saw him earn a maiden call-up for the national squad and make his full debut against New Zealand in the second Gillette Series Test match in November.
Clarke said he believes this could be his final contract before he retires from the game.
"I'm chuffed to bits to have signed a four-year deal with the club. I think this contract will take me through to the end of my playing days," he said.
"I'm sure the next four years are going to be the most exciting times in my career.
"You only have to look at the signings on and off the field to realise this is the strongest position the club has been in for years, certainly during my time."
Wolves coach Paul Cullen, who used Clarke as something of a utility forward during last season, added: "Jon has achieved international status through his professionalism and sheer determination.
"And to do it whilst playing out of his best position for most of the season makes it even more remarkable.
"He has earned his new deal the hard way and we are delighted to reward his effort."
