Coach Sharp departs Hull "by mutual consent"

19/05/2008

Head coach Peter Sharp has left Hull FC "by mutual consent" following the club's poor first half of the season.

Sharp leaves after just over two years in charge at the KC Stadium due to recent poor form, which has seen the Airlie Birds win just five of their 19 games so far this year.

The club currently sit second from bottom of Super League, with only newly-promoted Castleford Tigers below them.

Announcing the decision, Hull FC chief executive James Rule said: "On behalf of the board of directors, staff and players at Hull FC I would like to thank Peter for his contribution to the club and wish him the best of luck in his future career."

He continued: "The club's focus will now be on preparing for the St Helens game at the KC Stadium on Sunday and our Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final tie against Bradford Bulls the following week.

"Consequently, we will not be making any comment on potential replacements at this stage."

Assistant manager Richard Agar will take over as temporary coach.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18600075-ADNFCR
