Cullen parts company with Warrington

27/05/2008

Warrington Wolves and head coach Paul Cullen have today parted company by mutual consent.

The club's chairman Lord Hoyle said in a statement today: "On behalf of Warrington Wolves I wish to thank Paul for all his services to the club. Paul is [a] Warrington through and through and no one could have been more proud of wearing the 'primrose and blue' than Paul.

"He served the club with distinction for 25 years as a player, assistant coach and finally as head coach from August 2002.

"We wish Paul well for the future."

Assistant coach James Lowes has been appointed acting head coach until a permanent successor is found, the club announced.

Last night Warrington suffered a dramatic second-half capitulation, losing to bottom of the table Castleford 36-28.

The loss follows on from a disastrous defeat at the hands of Wigan last week and after the game some 200 angry fans staged a 20 minute sit-in, calling for Cullen to be sacked.

Warrington are currently seventh in the Engage Super League.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18609649-ADNFCR
