Dobson haunts old club to guide Hull KR to stunning comeback

13/07/2008

Hull Kingston-Rovers completed a sensational comeback in the final 30 minutes to beat Wigan 39-22 in Super League at Craven Park.

The Warriors were leading 22-10 in the second half but the visitors, led by four tries from Michael Dobson, scored 29 unanswered points to clinch victory.

Hull KR are now in eighth place while the Warriors slip to fifth spot but have a game-in-hand over their rivals.

The hosts did not look like a side who were without a win in six games and took the lead on four minutes when Kirk Netherton dived over.

Wigan hit back five minutes later when Joel Tomkins went on a blistering run from 40 metres out to cross the line to make it 4-4.

The ding-dong battle continued with George Carmont's try for Brian Noble's side cancelled out by Dobson to keep the scores level.

But Wigan ensured they took the lead into the break when Carmont collected Gareth Hock's pass to crash over for a 16-10 advantage.

The Warriors looked to be cruising to victory in the first minute of the second half when full-back Pat Richards sprinted 60 yards to touch down.

This sparked Rovers into action with two tries in five minutes to level the scores at 22-22. First Dobson grabbed his second, then Jon Steel dived over in the corner.

On the hour mark, Dobson continued to haunt his old club by completing his hat-trick after a clever kick and take.

After kicking a drop goal, Dobson scored his fourth-try on 74 minutes to move the home side 29-22 ahead. In the final stages, Rhys Lovegrove completed the rout with a solo effort.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18681935-ADNFCR
