Dragons continue winning run away from home to go fourth

04/04/2008

Catalan Dragons have won their third consecutive away match in Super League to go fourth in the table.

The Dragons beat Huddersfield Giants 20-16 at the Galpharm Stadium after being 6-4 behind at half time.

David Ferriol, Thomas Bosc and Djamal Fakir scored the tries for the Dragons but the visitors were left clinging on in the closing moments when Darrell Griffin closed the gap to four points.

But their defence held firm to enable them to achieve a hard-fought victory.

Bosc gave the Catalans an early lead with two penalties but Huddersfield went into the break ahead thanks to a try from Jamahl Lolesi and Chris Thorman's conversion.

They stretched that lead when Ryan Hudson scored immediately after the restart only for the Dragons to come storming back.

Ferriol cancelled out Hudson's try within a minute and Bosc and Fakir then put them eight points clear with 20 minutes to play.

Griffin crossed the whitewash with time running out but the Dragons were ultimately grateful to Clint Greenshields who made a try-saving tackle to deny Luke Robinson in the final seconds.

Elsewhere Bradford Bulls went second in the table thanks to a comfortable 24-8 win over Hull FC.

The two sides were level at half time with Chris Nero equalising Shaun Berrigan's early try for Hull just before the break.

But Bradford showed their class in the second period with three tries, from Matt Cook, Semi Tadulala and Sam Burgess, while Hull could only respond with a penalty by Danny Tickle.

The result leaves Hull second from bottom with pressure mounting on coach Peter Sharp.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18538819-ADNFCR
