Fisher signs new three-year deal with Hull KR
21/05/2008
Hooker Ben Fisher has signed a three-year contract extension with Hull Kingston Rovers.
The Scotland international, who won the Super League hitman of the year award last season, has been a key member of the Rovers side since joining from National League side Halifax in 2006.
Fisher, 27, has made 67 appearances for the Craven Park side, scoring 76 points and earning international honours in the process.
His new contract will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2011 campaign, and head coach Justin Morgan has hailed the new deal as an important part of the club's long-term plans.
"Ben is an integral part of the team and has all the attributes that we are looking for in a top-class hooker, he's not only a very determined individual he is an extremely hard worker both on and off the field," Morgan said.
"He certainly has what it takes to lead our forwards around the park and challenge any defensive line."
Fisher himself said: "Hull KR is a great club; it's exciting times for everyone at the moment what with stand developments and success on the field.
"It's good to be part of a team that's full of such talent.
"I'm really enjoying my footy and extending my playing contract here is a great opportunity for me that I'm sure will only bring out the best in my performances."
