GB star Morley out for six weeks
12/02/2007
Great Britain star Adrian Morley will be out for at least six weeks with a fractured left eye socket.
The 29-year-old suffered the injury on his debut for Warrington against Wigan in the Super League on Friday after an accidental collision with Eamonn O'Carroll.
Morley sustained the injury to the left side of his face seven minutes into the second half at the JJB Stadium.
After having x-rays, the former Leeds star was told by a specialist that he would be ruled out until April and will miss the fourth round of the Challenge Cup competition.
Wolves coach Paul Cullen said he was confident his players would respond positively to Morley's injury.
"We are hardened by last season's injury crisis and are very proud of the way the team responded to the two losses to secure the win at Wigan," Cullen said.
Morley, who plays at prop or second rower, returned to England after six successful seasons with Australian side Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League (NRL).
He is hoping to return to match fitness before Great Britain's mid-season international against opponents yet to be named.
Meanwhile, Wolves stand-off Chris Bridge will also miss at least six weeks after tearing his left hamstring in the 16-10 win over the Warriors.
