Giants mount stunning comeback to snatch draw with Hull KR
30/03/2008
Huddersfield came from behind to snatch a thrilling 24-24 draw against Hull KR in Super League at New Craven Park.
The home side lead 18-12 at the break thanks to tries from James Webster, Daniel Fitzhenry, and Chev Walker while Paul Cooke booted over three goals.
Tries from George Gatis, and Cliff Thorman, who also kicked two first-half goals, kept the Giants in the game.
But in a remarkable second half, the visitors fought back with tries from Paul Whatuira and Rod Jensen with Thorman adding another two goals.
Hull KR levelled the scores at 24-24 after Fitzhenry crashed over for his second try while Cooke kicked over another goal.
The draw sees Hull KR move into seventh position while the Giants climb to ninth spot.
Elsewhere, winger Semi Tadulala scored a hat-trick as Bradford demolished Castleford 50-4 at the Grattan Stadium.
Wayne Godwin, James Evans, Paul Sykes, Ben Jeffries, Shontayne Hape, and Chris Nero also crossed the line for the rampant Bulls.
Castleford, who will unveil disgraced sprinter Dwain Chambers as their new signing tomorrow, scored a first-half try from Adam Fletcher.
The win for the Bulls moves them into joint fifth place while the Tigers remain bottom of the table.
