Harlequins trounce Hull KR 40-16
10/08/2008
Harlequins kept alive their slim play-off hopes as they trounced a disappointing Hull KR by 40-16 at Craven Park.
The home-side named Paul Cooke in their starting line-up, but even the return of the controversial forward failed to lift Hull KR.
Brian McDermott's men needed just eight minutes to exert control, as hooker Chad Randall barged his way over the line to open the scoring.
The visitors raced into a 28-0 half-time lead with Will Sharp, David Howell and Henry Paul all adding to Randall's try.
The game was as good as over before the second-half began, but the Londoners showed no sign of letting-up as Gareth Haggerty and Scott Hill both crossed for second-half tries.
Place-kicker Rob Purdham was in unforgiving form, as he landed eight goal kicks to give Quins an insurmountable lead.
Peter Fox and Michael Dobson scored consolation tries for Hull KR.
