Horne pegs back Giants
03/06/2007
A late drop goal from Richard Horne gave Hull FC a 9-9 draw with Huddersfield at the KC Stadium in Super League.
A goal from Chris Thorman put the Giants 9-8 ahead with five minutes remaining before Horne held his nerve to salvage a point for the hosts.
Huddersfield took the lead after a try on 15 minutes with their only significant attack of the half with Thorman racing past the hosts' defence to touch down after good work from Keith Brown.
Some last-ditch defending from the Giants' defence saw them hold on for a 6-0 lead at the break.
Hull hit back with a try at the start of the second period when Danny Washbrook made the break and found Danny Tickle who strolled under the posts to touch down.
Tickle then put Hull 8-6 ahead with a penalty but that was cancelled out by Thorman's 39-metre penalty eight minutes from time.
In a dramatic closing stages, Thorman kicked a 20-metre effort to seemingly win the match for the Giants before Horne levelled.
The result sees Hull join the Giants in joint sixth-spot on 14 points after 16 matches.
