Huddersfield land Hodgson
25/09/2007
Huddersfield have added Salford wing David Hodgson to their squad for next season after being knocked out of the play-offs by Hull at the weekend.
The 26-year-old has left the relegated Reds to sign a four-year deal at the Galpharm and becomes coach Jon Sharp's fourth addition to his playing staff for next term.
"There's no doubt I've made the right choice. Huddersfield are on the rise. They've signed a lot of good players and will be a major force in Super League in the years ahead," Hodgson said.
"Huddersfield now have a very good reputation in the competition so deciding to come here wasn't the toughest of choices."
Luke Robinson has already made the move from Salford to the Giants after Shaun McRae's side failed to beat the drop, while the New Zealand pair of centre Paul Whatuira and hooker George Gatis arrive from the southern hemisphere.
The new arrivals will fill the dressing room vacancies left by the departing quartet of Brad Drew, Paul Reilly, Chris Nero and Matt Gardner.
Former Bradford Bulls skipper Robbie Paul is also unlikely to be around to welcome Hodgson to the club with the veteran back set to reunite with coach Brain Noble at Wigan next season.
Like Hodgson, Paul has become a free agent as the season draws to a close and will probably be tempted by a big-money swansong back at the JJB Stadium.
