Huddersfield's Griffin could face seven match ban

17/03/2008

Huddersfield's Darrell Griffin has been charged with a grade D offence after being sent off during his side's home defeat to Wigan Warriors on Sunday.

The prop was dismissed from the field of play in the dying minutes of the match for verbally abusing an official, an offence which carries a ban of between two and five games.

To make matters worse for the Yorkshire club, the game's ruling body could decide to ban Griffin for a further two games for raising his knees while tackling.

At the same time, Wigan's Stuart Fielden is also set to face disciplinary action for raising his knees in the match, which saw the visitors scrap to a 20-19 victory, while the team's captain Sean O'Loughlin is expected to receive a warning over his use of the forearm.

In what turned out to be a busy weekend for the game's authorities, Wakefield Wildcats hooker Tevita Leo-Latu has been charged with reckless play after being sent off during his team's defeat at Hull, while the Catalan Dragons will be without prop Jerome Guisset for at least two games after he received his marching orders for a dangerously high tackle while playing against St Helens.

The Frenchman's dismissal marred an otherwise perfect weekend for Les Catalans as they pulled off a shock 24-10 win against St Helens.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18513470-ADNFCR
