Hull FC agree two-year deal with top points scorer Tickle
07/04/2008
Back-row forward and top points scorer Danny Tickle has signed a new two-year contract with Super League side Hull FC.
Tickle, who joined from Wigan Warriors last season, will remain at the club until at least the end of the 2010 season as the club look to build on their recent successes.
Fellow back-rower Willie Manu also secured his future at the KC Stadium last week and Hull head coach Peter Sharp claimed the two signings are key to any future successes for the club.
"Both Danny and Willie are important members of the squad and provide us with a lot of quality and variation in what they can do," he said.
"I'm delighted Danny has agreed this deal, it is great."
England international Tickle, who turns 25 tomorrow, described the new contract as "a great birthday present" and said it had been an easy decision to commit to the club where he won player of the year honours at the end of his debut season in 2007.
"Apart from the fact I am happy here at Hull I also believe we have the squad to win something," he continued.
"Being in a side which has the capability of not just challenging for honours but winning a major prize is important and the fact I believe Hull are that side is another important reason why I have decided to stay.
"It wasn't a difficult decision really and another key factor was the people and fans because they have made me so welcome and that's made settling in much easier."
