Hull KR cull 12

17/09/2007

Hull KR have confirmed the release of 12 players at the end of the 2007 season as they look to build towards next year's campaign.

Among the list are several first-team regulars, including front rows Danny Ward and David Tangata-Toa and wings Byron Ford and Luke Dyer.

Back-up scrum-half Matty Brooks, loose forward Tommy Gallagher, full-back Mark Lennon and second rows Iain Morrison and Ryan Tandy are also on the list.

And centres Jon Goddard, Gareth Morton and Andreas Bauer make up the list of players who will not be retained for the 2008 season.

In addition, this year's loan signing from Super League champions St Helens, Ian Hardman, will return to his parent club and Mark O'Neill is to retire from the sport.

Hull KR head coach Justin Morgan said: "I would like to thank all the players that are leaving for their contribution this year and last year.

"This season has been an achievement that they should be proud of. I wish each and every player success for the future."

The club ended their debut Super League season on a winning note at the weekend when they beat play-off qualifiers Huddersfield Giants 25-24.

Despite finishing second-from-bottom, the club escaped relegation due to the rule that makes newly-promoted clubs immune to the drop in their first season in the top flight.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18282607-ADNFCR
