Hull KR fined over derby clash
27/11/2007
Hull Kingston Rovers have been fined £7,500 after they were found guilty of failing to control the fans at last season's derby match in Super League.
Both Rovers and crosstown rivals Hull FC were hauled in front of the Rugby Football League's operational rules tribunal to answer charges of "failing to use best endeavours to ensure supporters do not act unlawfully".
Fans of both sides invaded the pitch at the end of the derby match between the teams, which took place on Sunday July 8th 2007 at Craven Park and ended in a 30-20 victory for the visitors.
The match had added spice as it was only the second meeting of the two teams following Hull FC star Paul Cooke's decision to quit the club in favour of joining Rovers - the side he had supported as a boy.
His first appearance as a Rovers player against his former club was a 14-10 victory at the KC Stadium a matter of weeks after his move was confirmed.
Hull KR's fine consists of £2,500 to be paid immediately, along with the costs of the case, and a sum of £5,000 to be suspended for one year.
Hull FC were cleared of any wrongdoing.
