Hull cruise to 32-12 victory away at Castleford

11/04/2008

In a tense game in Yorkshire, Hull cruised to a 32-12 win against Castleford, giving a welcome boost to under-fire manager Peter Sharp.

Though the home side took the lead through Craig Huby, tries from Craig Hall, Scott Wheeldon and Motu Tony gave the visitors a half-time lead.

James Thackry crossed over and Hall grabbed a second try to give Hull victory, making Peter Lupton's try for the home side a mere consolation.

St Helens brought their three-match losing run to an emphatic end with a crushing 58-12 victory over visiting Harlequins.

Leon Pryce scored a hat-trick of tries as the home side cruised to an easy win, while Sean Long kicked nine goals and claimed a try for himself.

The comfortable win marked the welcome return of captain Paul Scunthorpe, and not even tries from Gareth Haggerty and Matt Gafa could dampen the celebrations for his 250th appearance for the club.

Leeds also recorded a comfortable home win, beating Leeds by 32-12.

Two tries from Scott Donald helped the hosts to victory, despite the hosts taking an early lead after Michael Monaghan put Louis Anderson in to score.

Carl Ablett, Rob Burrow and Luke Burgess also got on the scoresheet for Leeds, with Kevin Sinfield converting an impressive six out of six kicks.

Meanwhile, a late try from Dimitri Pelo secured a dramatic victory fro the Catalans Dragons over Wigan in Lancashire. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18549214-ADNFCR
