Hull dealt further blow following King's operation
09/04/2008
Hull FC have been dealt a further injury blow with the news that prop Paul King will be sidelined for four-and-a-half months.
King fractured and dislocated his foot during a draw against Catalan Dragons two weeks ago and now faces a lengthy spell of recovery following the complex operation.
Hull are currently one point off the foot of the table and King is disappointed he will not be able to help his side for the rest of the season.
King said: "I'm only just coming to terms with it, four and a half months is a long time. This is a real blow, especially as I thought I was playing okay.
"But not a lot is going right for us at the moment with injuries. With everything that's happening all I wanted to do was stay fit and do my bit to help out. We need all the players we can get out on the field not sat in the stands."
Hull are already without half-back Richard Horne who, suffered a neck injury last week, winger Matt Sing, prop Garreth Carvell and utility player Richard Whiting.
But the club hope to have Sing and Whiting back for the derby game against Hull KR at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff at the start of May.
Physio Simon Pope said: "The surgeon was pleased with the way both players were progressing and both are expected to return as expected."
Hull will hope to claim just their third win of the season when they face bottom-of-the-table Castleford on Friday.
