Hull half-back Horne undergoing tests on neck injury

07/04/2008

Hull FC half-back Richard Horne is undergoing tests on a potentially serious neck injury he suffered in his side's Super League fixture last Friday.

The Great Britain international was forced off during the 24-8 defeat to Bradford Bulls at the KC Stadium with what was initially diagnosed as a dead arm.

However, after initially being told to rest the injury, the 25-year-old discovered over the weekend that his movement was being hampered and a further check-up suggested the possibility of spinal damage or problems with his nervous system.

Horne was sent to hospital to have tests and scans carried out, although his condition remains unclear at present.

A statement from the club on Monday read: "At present it is too early to speculate how long Horne could be out and, until the club have all the facts at their disposal, they are not prepared to speculate and will make no further comment."

Horne would be a big loss for Hull FC, who are languishing in 11th place in the 12-team Super League with just two wins and a tie from their opening ten matches.

Only newly-promoted Castleford Tigers are below them in the standings.

Horne's injury could potentially lead to his second long-term absence already this season after he was forced to miss the full pre-season schedule and the opening four months of the campaign because of a foot injury.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18540601-ADNFCR
