King signs new deal at Hull FC
24/07/2008
Great Britain prop forward Paul King has ended speculation over his future by signing a new two-year deal with Hull FC.
The 29-year-old was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, but he has now committed his immediate future to the Airlie Birds with an agreement until the end of 2010.
"I think everyone knows I am black and white through and through and getting this new deal is fantastic news for me," said King, who has been at Hull throughout his career.
"I have never wanted to play for another club and I believe I still have plenty to offer the club."
Chief executive James Rule said: "I am delighted that we have secured the services of Paul King for another two years.
"He has spent his entire career with Hull FC, a rarity in the modern game, and he shows real pride in being able to pull on the irregular hoops and represent the club in front of the FC faithful."
King is currently recovering from a foot injury, which has kept him out of the side since the 28-28 draw with Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on March 29th.
And head coach Richard Agar said the club had been happy to offer him a longer deal than he previously had, despite the player's fitness problems.
"Paul has been a very loyal servant to this club, there is only one club he wants to play for and we are happy he is staying," Agar said.
"We gave him a one-year deal last time on the proviso that we wanted to see some improvements in certain areas and he has certainly done that.
"It has been a difficult year for Paul with his injury but he showed enough form early on in the year to suggest he still has plenty of football left in him.
"I would like to think we have rewarded him with this deal for his loyalty."
