Leeds and Wigan in Super League wins
16/05/2008
Leeds Rhinos went seven points clear at the top of the Super League after a comfortable 58-12 home victory over Wakefield.
The Wildcats were tamed by a hat-trick from Great Britain stand-off Danny Mcguire, as well as tries from Eric Anselme, Rob Burrow, Simon Worrall, Carl Ablett, Matt Diskin, plus a brace from Keith Senior.
The reliable boot of Kevin Sinfield kicked seven goals, equalling Andy Farrell's record of scoring in 48 consecutive Super League fixtures.
Sam Obst and Danny Brough went over for Wakefield either side of the half-time break.
Meanwhile, Wigan rose to fourth place with a 38-14 victory over Warrington at the JJB.
A handful of second half tries won the game for the Warriors, after the Wolves had the better of the first period, going in 14-6 up at half-time.
Gareth Hock made it onto the scoresheet on the occasion of his 100th Super League appearance, while Australian Trent Barrett grabbed two tries.
Wigan boss Brian Noble said of the comeback: "We knew if we gave ourselves an even share of possession, we would win the game."
