Leeds 'buzzing', says McGuire
12/10/2007
Leeds Rhinos stand-off Danny McGuire has said his team's appearance in the Super League grand final has created "a great buzz around the city".
The Rhinos finished second in the regular season table behind St Helens - their opponents in the Old Trafford final tomorrow - and will be gunning for revenge after a 12-10 defeat in the first match of the play-offs last month.
That game was a hard-fought and closely-contested affair, however, leading many pundits to suggest the final this weekend is one of the toughest Super League title matches to call.
And McGuire, a local boy and Leeds United football fan, says the anticipation around the game is growing day by day.
"There's a great buzz around the city of Leeds at the minute," he said.
"I've been to three Leeds United games at Elland Road so far and there's a load of excitement going on with them still being unbeaten.
"From a personal point of view, that's great and now with the Rhinos getting to the grand final, the city is on a real high."
McGuire said he hoped to see a number of fellow Lilywhites fans attending the grand final in Manchester.
"It would be nice if we could go and get the first trophy for Leeds and then hopefully Leeds United can do the business, defy the odds and get promotion," he continued.
"It's a great time to live in Leeds and hopefully a few of the football fans will be out in force to support us against St Helens."
