Leeds fight through to Challenge Cup fifth round
18/04/2008
Seven different try-scorers helped Leeds Rhinos to an emphatic Challenge Cup 38-16 victory over Celtic Crusaders at Headingley.
Leeds got off to a superb start, storming into a 14-0 lead, though this advantage was soon lost as Anthony Blackwood twice went over for the visitors to make it 14-10 at the half-time interval.
However, Leeds came out of the break the stronger sides and tries from Matt Diskin, Danny McGuire, Kallum Watkins and Keith Senior secured a fifth-round place for the reigning Super League champions.
The result comes as a boost for the Rhinos after they learned that forward Gareth Ellis is likely to be out of action for three weeks after breaking his thumb in their recent game against Wigan.
Meanwhile, at the Recreation Ground, two tries from Calvert set Whitehaven on their way to an easy win over Lezignan-Corbieres, with the visitors only managing a try from Beattie.
The results come ahead of tomorrow's much-anticipated clash between Harlequins and Castleford, in the only all-Super League tie of this years fourth round.
Salford will also take on Wakefield on Sunday, with the Yorkshire side set to field three-time Challenge Cup winner Henry Paul.
